These data provide researchers with the information they need to address the questions currently being raised about changes affecting the various components of sea level : Is mean sea level rising ? Where ? How ? Why ? Are storm surges more frequent today ? And so on.</p> <p>Answering these questions depends on the acquisition of long time series of sea-level records.
