Il est depuis 2016 l'un des réseaux élémentaires de l'Infrastructure de Recherche Littorale et Côtière (<a href="https://www.ir-ilico.fr/" class="spip_out" rel="external">IR-ILICO</a>). Il mobilise de nos jours 10 stations et laboratoires marins français du littoral Manche-Atlantique-Méditerranée depuis Wimereux jusqu'à Marseille en passant par Brest. Toutes les équipes SOMLIT travaillent selon des protocoles communs normalisés.
L'objectif du SOMLIT est l'observation à moyen et long terme de l'évolution de l'environnement marin pour comprendre, via l'étude de "séries multi-paramètres", la réponse des écosystèmes marins aux forçages naturels et aux contraintes anthropiques.
L'observation SOMLIT concerne l'hydroclimat marin, la chimie, la biogéochimie et la biologie de la colonne d'eau. <br class='autobr' /> Les protocoles communs imposent à tous : <br /><span class="spip-puce ltr"><b>–</b></span> Un prélèvement en sub-surface à marée haute (± 1 h) avec une périodicité de 15 jours ; <br /><span class="spip-puce ltr"><b>–</b></span> Un profil par sonde multiparamètre surface-fond ; <br /><span class="spip-puce ltr"><b>–</b></span> Un corpus de <a href='https://lienss.univ-larochelle.fr/Liste-des-16-variables-mesurees-par-station' class="spip_in">16 paramètres à analyser</a> ; <br /><span class="spip-puce ltr"><b>–</b></span> L'intégration d'une démarche qualité selon la norme NF/EN ISO/CCI 17025 ; <br /><span class="spip-puce ltr"><b>–</b></span> Des exercices annuels d'inter-comparaison entre laboratoires CNRS et universitaires ainsi que la participation aux essais inter-laboratoires de l'Ifremer.<br class='autobr' /> Le SOMLIT met à disposition des communautés nationales et internationales l'ensemble des résultats acquis via le <a href="https://www.somlit.fr/" class="spip_out" rel="external">site web national du SOMLIT</a>.</p> <h3 class="spip">Le SOMLIT à La Rochelle :</h3> <p>Le laboratoire LIENSs a intégré le réseau SOMLIT en 2012 après une phase initiale de mise en place opérée depuis juin 2011.<br class='autobr' /> Le site est situé dans le Pertuis d'Antioche (entre les îles de Ré et d'Oléron) à 5 nautiques du port de Chef de Baie (La Rochelle) et pour une profondeur de 40 mètres (point bleu sut la carte). Ce site est situé en dehors des perturbations générées par les apports des petits fleuves (Lay, Sèvre et Charente) et est à l'écart des principales activités anthropiques (cultures marines, pêches côtières, dragages). Il reste sous influence océanique dominante même si son contexte hydrologique hivernal est influencé par les panaches de la Gironde et de la Loire.
