Evolution of marine submersion risks in French tropical islands over the 21st century.
This PhD studies the evolution of marine submersion risks in French tropical islands, which are highly exposed to meteo-oceanic hazards and at the forefront of climate change impacts (sea-level rise, subsidence, reef degradation, intensification of cyclones and rainfall). Using results from the FUTURISKS project, major submersion events observed in recent decades will be revisited for the end of the 21st century, considering sea-level rise, natural subsidence, coral reef and sand stock degradation, changing cyclone and swell regimes, and ecosystem-based adaptation solutions. The selected study sites, with contrasting reef-lagoon settings and hazard exposures, will enable a more precise quantification of submersion risks and support the design of realistic adaptation strategies...
