AGÎLE is an interdisciplinary team bringing together researchers who mobilise skills in the humanities and social sciences across three clearly identifiable fields, all of which are embedded in a territorialised, interdisciplinary, systemic and multiscalar approach. While the geographical approach remains central to the team, it is also articulated with legal and political approaches.
The team’s expertise falls within three main fields:
1. The reconstruction of past evolutions, current characterisation, and monitoring of anthropised and weakly anthropised coastal geomorphological systems
2. The analysis of practices and of people’s relationship to space
3. The analysis of modes of governance of environmental issues
Research carried out within the team is organised around a cross-cutting question: the adaptation and transformation of coastlines in response to socio-environmental changes
We work on nearby field sites (the Pertuis seas, the Atlantic coast) and distant ones (tropical islands and coastlines), following a transversal approach ranging from the open sea to inland coastal areas.
We contribute to feeding many interdisciplinary themes both within the laboratory and within the University of La Rochelle
