Research axis
Axis 1: Evolution of territorial structuring
This axis aims to trace the evolution of coastal societies and their territory since the Neolithic period. Archaeological and historical approaches are supported by physical imaging to study the evolution of places of settlement.
Axis 2: Human appropriation of the sea and coastal areas
This axis consists in studying the modes of human appropriation of the sea and coastal areas over long and short timeframes. It also examines the conflicts triggered by appropriations of the coastline and the production of legal norms and forms of governance that result from them.
Axis 3: Practices, representations and circulations in coastal spaces
This axis aims to analyse the specificities and interactions produced by coastal, maritime or overseas mobilities: migratory dynamics, knowledge and techniques, navigation and cultural circulations in the interface spaces that are coastal areas.
